Victimised for asking for a transfer. What can I do?
Q. Hi! I asked the company I work for 2 days ago if I can get transferred to another venue. The manager at the other venue has agreed already he would take me on for the transfer and my hours can be accommodated to etc. my manager seemed unhappy about this but didn’t express this. Today I walked in to be told I am under investigation and due to that I can’t get transferred to another store. The investigation is due to taking to long on a lunch break. Would you give me any advice on this situation?
A. Really this all hinges on how long you have been employed by your current employer. If it is less than 2 years, there is little, if anything, you can do because if you upset the apple cart, you may find yourself out of a job with no recourse to the employment tribunal. However, if you have more than 2 years of service, you could argue that the allegations against you are baseless and were only made to prevent you from moving to another store.
