The employment tribunal is a government-run system that provides a way for employees to resolve disputes with their employers. The process is relatively cheap and easy compared to other forms of dispute resolution, such as going to court.
One of the main advantages of the employment tribunal is that it is relatively inexpensive.
Fees for bringing a claim to the tribunal were abolished in 2017, which means that employees no longer have to pay to make a claim. This makes the process more accessible for those on lower incomes. I recall back before fees were abolished it cost £1,200 to make an unfair dismissal claim.
