This week we’re skipping the Employment Tribunal and the Employment Appeal Tribunal decisions and heading straight to the Court of Appeal - the second highest court in the land; heady stuff!

This case has huge ramifications for workers throughout the country.

You may or may not have been following recent case law developments over the status of gig workers. Are they employees, workers or self employed?

Many organisations in the gig economy have argued their staff were self-employed and worked on their own account, and as such they were not required to provide statutory rights such as the minimum wage, holiday and sickness pay.

The likes of Uber, Deliveroo and Pimlico Plumbers, to name but a few, have had to re-evaluate their working practices in light of decisions going in favour of their staff.
