Bullying at work should be taken seriously, but sadly it often goes unchallenged. More often than not the bullying behaviour is instigated by someone in a position of authority. Look at Sir Gavin Williamson. Another minister left with no option but to resign. There has been such a revolving door of ministers lately I honestly don’t know who does what!
His texts hit the national headlines, and they were somewhat abusive.

Why on earth someone would choose to write such abusive nonsense is anybody’s guess. I can partly understand people say things in the heat of the moment, it’s called a temper tantrum and I confess I’ve had a few of those in my time, but I can honestly say it would never occur to me to write to someone and tell them to slit their throat.
I think what is telling, but indicative of the relationship between the bully and his/her victims, is that it takes so long for the bullying behaviour to be exposed. It is apparent that Mr Williamson’s behaviour is well known to colleagues and ex colleagues alike. Many of those were at the receiving end of his diatribes, but until now have not had the balls to speak out. I mean that as no criticism of them, because, more often than not, speaking out can have a detrimental impact on the very person that is being bullied.
