A bonfire of employment rights?
A quick look at the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill
You may or may not have heard of this Bill which is currently making its way through the legislative process and will be enacted in 2023, but it is set to have a far reaching effect on workers and their rights.
Unions are rightly concerned as are many employment lawyers.
Why? Because, on the face of it, employment rights derived through European directives and decisions could be wiped out overnight on 31 December 2023.
I say ‘could’ be wiped out, because nothing is set in stone yet, but this legislation provides the platform for what could be the biggest change in workplace rights since. . . . ever!
Really! Am I doom mongering?
I don’t think so, and here’s why.
