If you’ve been following the recent political shenanigans (and who hasn’t) you may have heard that there’s a possibility that we may be losing some of our hard earned employment rights. Last week the unions called for Liz Truss to come clean over plans to change workers’ rights, in particular the 48 hour maximum working week.
We’re going back to the Working Time Directive again to thank the EU for this particular employment right. In this newsletter last week I discussed holiday entitlement which was provided by Article 7 of the Directive. This week its Article 6
This 48 hour maximum working week was enacted into domestic law by Regulation 4(1) of the Working Time Regulations 1998.
